May ’18 – The case of the abandoned casings

Two abandoned elevator jack hole casings have been found during exploratory excavation of the existing foundation wall. The casings are vertical corrugated pipes installed by the City Fair project in the late 80’s. These kinds of casings are typically used to house hydraulic pistons that raise and lower elevators. The casings found on site are about 30 feet deep. Ground water can be seen at the bottom.
